According to current scientific knowledge, the healthy and slimming effect of pepper is due to the plant compound piperine, which can be found, among other things, in the pepper's skin.
Piperine causes the pungency in pepper and also inhibits the formation of fat cells, as researchers at Sejong University in Seoul have found in a study.
Bitter substances contained in black pepper also play a role. They are said to have a positive influence on metabolism. The pungency also activates the so-called thermogenesis, which ensures that the body produces heat and converts fat into energy. Consequently, pepper not only stops the formation of new problem areas, but also helps to break down existing fat deposits.
Smooth and healthy digestion also influences how much one weighs. Black pepper is also helpful here: Piperine stimulates the production of digestive juices and digestive enzymes and increases the activity of the intestine (intestinal villi). This leads to food being digested more quickly.
- Improvement of fat metabolism
